Resources

More control sounds good. It also means more decisions.

Consumer-Directed Care Plus, or CDC+, is an option within Florida’s iBudget waiver. It gives a participant more control and flexibility in directing approved services and managing an approved monthly budget.

That can include choosing workers and deciding how approved supports are arranged. The participant or representative may also take on employer, purchasing-plan and recordkeeping responsibilities. Florida’s fiscal employer agent handles functions such as payroll and employer tax reporting, but the participant still has work to do.

Ask what the day-to-day job will be

Before choosing CDC+, ask which current services can be self-directed, what must be handled each month, who can help with worker questions and records, and what happens when needs or the budget change.

Start with your Waiver Support Coordinator or APD. CDC+ is not a shortcut around eligibility or an extra pot of money. It is a different way to manage approved supports.
