Something that worked yesterday may not work today. When you’re caring for someone with dementia, that can leave you wondering what changed—and what to try next.

On Wednesday, October 14, the Alzheimer’s Association is offering a free online class, “The Empowered Caregiver: Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors.” It starts at 7 pm Eastern.

The session covers how dementia can affect behavior, possible triggers and person-centered approaches. It’s a chance to learn and ask questions without having to sort through another stack of search results.

Bring one situation you’d like to understand

Write down what happened, what was going on around the person and what you tried. Keep identifying details private. A specific question is often more useful than trying to cover every hard moment at once.

Making time for yourself matters, too. CareOne Connected offers respite services for caregivers. If you need someone to step in while you attend a class, handle an appointment or take a break, tell us about your support needs through our Request Services page.
